Fleur + Kazem – Vasilias Nikoklis Inn, Nikokleia. Cyprus

Vasilias Nikoklis Inn, Nikokleia. Cyprus Wedding Photographer

Fleur and Kazem chose Beziiqué to be their Vasilias Nikoklis Inn, Nikokleia. Cyprus Wedding Photographer, here is their story :

We met in 2004, street fundraising, and had a cheeky snog on a drunken night, but lost touch and didn’t go on our first date until 2012! After that, it was plain sailing ;) (see below). We’d been together five years when we got married.

We got engaged on a sailing trip in Greece in August 2016, with both of our families. Kazem had spent the whole week trying to find a good time and place to propose, but the Greek islands were beset with unseasonable gales! On the final day sailing home, the sun finally came out, and whilst snorkeling, he opened the ring box underwater. Fleur was so surprised she screamed and pulled off her mask and snorkel, which dropped to the bottom of the ocean!

Tell us about your dress:

The second dress I put on, a one-of-a-kind silk crepe dress from a gorgeous little vintage boutique called Days of Grace in Budleigh Salterton, Devon. A lovely Grecian with a vintage wax flower crown in my hair (from the same shop). My mum kindly bought it for me, and I wouldn’t have picked anything anywhere near so nice without her. On the day, I was given a garter handmade by my best friend’s family.

A suit he bought five days before the wedding! A grey three-piece suit, kindly bought by his mother, with a tie to match the bridesmaids, and handmade rustic boutonnieres from Curious Fair on Etsy.

 Tell us about t

A beautiful dried flower bouquet from EnglishFlowerFarmer on Etsy. Bridesmaids’ bouquets were also dried gypsophila from WildFlowersWigan on Etsy. We created our own table plans, seating cards, table name signs and decorated the swimming pool railing with photos of our families and friends. We made our rustic map favor boxes filled with Syrian and English sweets and had dried English lavender alongside the cutlery, and we had bagpipes playing me up the aisle – all representing our nationalities.

The bridal party had a swim in the Vasilias pool in the morning, whilst the groomsmen were floating in the sea at Banana Bay. Getting ready was slow and relaxed, with the bridesmaids doing each others’ hair, whilst the seven groomsmen plus groom arrived and squeezed into a room at Vasilias.

Things only got nerve-wracking when people started to show up and I was finally in my dress. Once we were all in place, Kazem’s step-father, a Scottish highland bagpiper, played me up the aisle to a song we fell in love with whilst touring the Isle of Skye.

The ceremony was totally unpracticed, but therefore also super-chilled so very easy-going, and we hadn’t heard each others’ vows, which were really emotional, so there wasn’t a dry eye in the house! After the ceremony and during the reception, we were scooped off by the photographers to get some shots and were lucky enough to be visited by a herd of goats at sunset in the field behind Vasilias, which made for great photos.

Meanwhile, everyone was getting tipsy, so our amazing MC Chris (and the bride’s mother) suggested that we change our first dance to start it with something slow and cheesy, before dropping in Zorba the Greek. We last-minute agreed to their plan, and our fantastic music-man was very accommodating.

Amazingly, everyone joined in our attempt at Greek dancing. A real highlight was our talented friends and family improvising the music – we had a beatboxer with the bagpipes and a harmonica, all totally spontaneously. We carried on the party at The Rose Pub in Kato Paphos after the formal celebrations had finished.

What was the favorite part of your wedding day?

Our first dance – every single guest was dancing and shouting the dance steps! And also our friends getting involved with the music – the night was such a surprise, but so brilliant.

It was only ever Vasilias – we loved the rustic vibe and exclusive use of the venue, as well as getting married under the eucalyptus trees in the garden. As soon as I saw it on the internet, I knew it was what we wanted, but it was even better in person.

Rustic rustic rustic! All inspired by Vasilias itself and the photos we’d seen of previous weddings.

 Food/Music Evening Entertainment/ Dj / Fireworks:

The super-talented Chris Andre for the music. A genius at the fiddle and was so brilliant and easy-going.

Definitely get a good photographer and videographer – their products are the only tangible, longlasting momentos of the day and are for your memories, not other people’s.

Nick and Aimie were brilliant. From the outset (our pre-wedding meeting) Nick was giving advice about what works and what doesn’t at weddings, which proved to be really valuable. They both made us feel really relaxed but managed to organise us and our guests when needed. Most importantly, they took some amazing photos that we will treasure forever.
