LOUPEDECK the photo editing console for Adobe Lightroom – Gear Review – Nick Wild

Loupedeck, a game changer in editing photos in Adobe Lightroom. I first saw this product on an Indiegogo crowd funder. I was intrigued from the very outset. Selecting and editing from the thousand of images I shoot at each wedding is a long task, so a tool that could help? I was keen to get my hands on this.

This is a unique and brilliant product. Loupedeck has made me rethink how I edit.

First of all let me say, the Loupedeck console itself, looks amazing on my desk. Better in fact than any of the marketing shots I saw online before purchasing it. With its slick black design and simple user interface, I knew I was going to love using this device. My wife Aimie loves using it too for the task of selecting the best images from our destination weddings.

Editing is now a physical thing. I have to use my brain in a whole new way but that is amazing. So often we get stuck in a rut with our techniques. Anything that comes along to shake that up has to be a good thing. Loupdeck has made me see the world of editing in a whole new light.

I first used this for some Ibiza wedding photography we shot for a couple at the venue Can Curreu. It was easy to pick up and once I got into the full flow it made me feel like an awesome DJ on his decks in a club in Ibiza!

Loupedeck encourages me to explore more, push more and take my editing to a whole new level.

Not Just and Editing Tool

This is not only an editing tool though. It can help to refine a selection of images once imported into Adobe Lightroom library. There are buttons to rate each image 1-5 and to flag the keepers from the day. Meanwhile, arrows on the very bottom right corner allow scrolling through a collection.

You may need the mouse to navigate menus but with the Loupedeck under my left hand and the mouse under my right, it’s a dream. I only needed to use my keyboard to name export files.

This is a high-end bit of kit, the build quality is superb.

In Conclusion

Was it worth the money? YES most definitely. If you think of us destination wedding photographers spending thousands on our cameras, lenses and other gear. Then why not spend a few hundred?

Loupdeck has become a game changer for me. It has jumpstarted a new buzz for editing. Improved my workflow. It makes me think, its fun to use and I would highly recommend to anyone.
